| A recent article in the Vancouver Sun (Big White scam ‘stuff of nightmares,’ says B.C. judge who dismissed suit | Vancouver Sun) once again reminds us to take action to prevent against title fraud.
In this case fraudsters impersonated the owners of a home in Big White, and the buyers ended up with losses of about $75,000.00. While the homeowners did not suffer a loss at the hands of the fraudsters, they could have easily lost their home had the deal actually closed. Essentially, if your home or more importantly any investment property is free and clear of any financial charges, pull the duplicate title, which you can do yourself for under $100.00. Or hire someone to do it for you. Just do not lose the duplicate. Store it in a safe or have us store it for you. You have worked hard to own real estate, don’t lose it!! |
